K-cup Teacher gift - Treat for Halloween

EEK!  Halloween snuck up on me.  I created a dozen of these today for my twin girls' teachers and teacher assistants.  It took me an hour to figure out the measurements for the box; it isn't perfect, but I was determined to get two out of one sheet of 12x12.  I was able to get 12 rectangles of the bats paper from just two sheets of 6x6 (BasicGrey Eerie collection.)  The twine is Doodlebug Halloween and the tag is Stampin' Up card stock, stamps, tag punches, and markers.  The little bat is Bazzill Bling card stock and a QuicKutz die.

Happy Halloween!

Little Tangles sketch challenge - still time to play!

You still have the weekend to join in our skecth challenge at Little Tangles!
I was tempted to make a card with paper strips down the right side...I love playing with scraps...but I resisted the urge and actually was attempted to make a flat card.  I was going to color the loopy tangles with my Promarkers or copics, but then I got out my Little Tangles sequins.  I purposely added lots of glossy accents to the centers to see if I liked the effect.  What do you think?
For my card I used hearts from two different Neat and Tangled stamp sets:

Supplies:
stamps:  Neat and Tangled "Little Tangles" and "Kindness Matters" (sentiment)
sequins:  Lime Satin, Pumpkin Satin, Raspberry Red, and Summer Sun
ink:  Texas Chocolate
paper:  smooth white (100 lb for Copic markers)
glossy accents

Play with the sketch, rotate it, flip it, just have fun...then link your creation at Little Tangles.  You have until October 27th to play along.

Dress Up for Halloween; Faux Chipboard tutorial

It's my turn up at the Pumpkin Spice blog.  The current challenge is "Dress Up."  I used papers and glossy accents that I purchased at the Pumpkin Spice store.  I love this paper collection by My Mind's Eye.  I have actually ordered it twice :)

For added dimension, I popped up the die cut frame with foam tape.  My bird (dressed as a ghost) also has nice dimension in real life.  That piece literally feels like chipboard; it is glued flat directly on the polka dot paper.

Faux Chipboard Tutorial:  I cut the die cut shadow on black card stock four times, then glued together.  I pieced the rest of the bird, bag, conversation bubble, and costume on top.

Supplies:
papers:  My Mind's Eye Blackbird "Argyle" (orange linen); "Costumes" (black polka dot); "Halloween Words" (green linen);  Card stock Accessories sheet (die cut frame); Bazzill Honey Dotted Swiss (yellow legs); black card stock; white card stock
Cricut cartridge:  3 Birds on Parade p.39 cut @ 2"
glossy accents
black fine tip marker (sentiment)

Little Tangles Sketch challenge - washi tape tutorial!

You may know that I find sketches inspirational for a starting off point when I sit down to create, but I rarely sit down to design my own sketch.  I was tickled when I was offered the opportunity to give it a try at Little Tangles.  I thought I would keep the sketch clean and simple (CAS) for those with a CAS-tastic creative gene, but it can be embellished and layered to your heart's desire if you prefer.  At any rate, I would be thrilled if you are able to participate in this challenge.
For my card I used hearts from two different Neat and Tangled stamp sets:

Washi tape tutorial:
My red chevron open heart (top right) is the same washi tape as the strip down the side of the card.  I stamped the heart in black ink on the card, then tore a piece of washi tape to cover the heart.  Lastly I gently cut around the heart outline with my Xacto knife and removed the excess washi tape.  The other heart is colored with Copic markers and has glossy accents on top.

Supplies:
stamps:  Neat and Tangled "Just Hello" (open heart) and "Kindness Matters" (circle heart and sentiment)
washi tape:  My Mind's Eye "All is Bright"
paper:  smooth white (100 lb for Copic markers)
glossy accents
scrap ribbon
Copic markers

Play with the sketch, rotate it, flip it, just have fun...then link your creation at Little Tangles.  You have until October 27th to play along.

Happy Thursday!

Celebrate (brown and green color challenge)

It is my turn up on the Shop Pumpkin Spice blog!

Please remember that Shop Pumpkin Spice has weekly challenges.  This week we are having a color challenge:  brown and green.  Interpret the challenge however you like; I started with browns and greens, but I also have some dark red as an accent color.

I perused my 6x6 pads that I have purchased from the Shop Pumpkin Spice store and I chose 6x6 papers from BasicGrey.  I die cut the hexagons, then used my Xyron for good adhesive coverage.  I stamped my sentiments in Texas Chocolate hybrid ink which is sold exclusively at Shop Pumpkin Spice.  It worked great on the burlap!  Finally I attached my some scrap ric-rac and two My Mind's Eye glossy brads.

Supplies:
paper:  BasicGrey "Clippings" 6x6; Bazzill brown card stock base; smooth white card stock
ink:  My Pink Stamper "Texas Chocolate" brown hybrid ink
glossy brads:  My Mind's Eye "Winter Wonderland"
sentiment stamps:  Neat and Tangled "Just For You"
adhesive:  Xyron
burlap trim:  My Mind's Eye Lost and Found 2 Sunshine trim
ric-rac: my scrap jar of remnant red ribbons
hexagon die:  PTI

You are in for a real treat if you are hopping with us today; I promise there will be lots of eye candy.  Did you also know that Shop Pumpkin Spice has weekly challenges?  This week we are having a color challenge:  brown and green.

I perused my 6x6 pads that I have purchased from the Shop Pumpkin Spice store and I chose papers from both Carta Bella and BasicGrey.  I cut the strips in various widths, then used my Xyron for good adhesive coverage.  I stamped my sentiments in Texas Chocolate hybrid ink which is sold exclusively at Shop Pumpkin Spice.  It works great with Copic or ProMarkers.  Finally I attached my wood veneer with glossy accents.  My card was inspired by one I saw on Pinterest;  I believe the original pinner is Ashley Cannon Newell.

paper:  BasicGrey "Clippings" 6x6; Carta Bella "Winter Fun" 6x6
ink:  My Pink Stamper "Texas Chocolate" brown hybrid ink
wood veneer:  Studio Calico

Make Your Own Patterned Paper with Stamps

It's time for another Little Tangles challenge!  This fortnight we are making our own patterned paper using stamps.  If you are a seasoned stamper, you may remember a time before patterned paper and we always stamped our backgrounds.  It has been so long, this truly was a challenge.  I stamped and embossed in white on yellow card stock, then I stamped in black on acetate.  I attached my acetate to the yellow with two black snaps, layered on black card stock, and then on the white card base.
I used five different stamps, and they all came from this newly released Neat and Tangled set called "Just For You":

Supplies:
stamps:  Neat and Tangled "Just For You"
paper:  yellow card stock, white card stock, black card stock; acetate
embossing powder:  white by Stampin' Up!
inks:  Whisper White by Stampin' Up!; Jet Black by Stazon
snaps:  Making Memories black

Now it is your turn.  Get out your stamps and create a fun background!  Need inspiration?  Check out what my fab DT sisters did with their stamps at Little Tangles.  I hope to see you there!

Happy Thursday!

My Craft Spot: Comment here & win a stamp set!

I am guesting today at My Craft Spot.  Kimberly invited me to create a card using her "Tiny Banners and Toppers" dies.  YOU can win a My Craft Spot stamp set of your choosing by leaving a comment on my blog post below and type in your favorite My Craft Spot stamp set.

My card:  I chose my papers first and the "HB2U" stickers.  I cut all my layers; I cut the jumbo pennant by hand.  I added two black eyelets to my jumbo pennant and some twine.  Finally I  die cut my tiny banners and their shadows by laying a strip of kraft card stock and a strip of black card stock over the dies and using painter's tape to hold the paper strips in place before rolling through my Big Shot.  Yep, I made all of these little banners in just one trip through my Big Shot!

Look at all of these great little dies:
The larger banners can be used on their own or as shadows behind the smaller banners.  The banners also have toppers...how cool is that?  I used the larger banners (black card stock) as shadows behind the smaller (kraft card stock):
  Look how beautiful they cut!

Supplies:
paper:  My Mind's Eye "Kraft Funday Everyday Fun"
banner dies:  My Craft Spot "Tiny Banners and Toppers"
twine:  My Mind's Eye "All Is Bright" twine (you could also use My Craft Spot "Strings and Things")
eyelets:  Making Memories
stickers:  Rebecca Sower Nostalgiques

Now visit My Craft Spot and peruse the stamp sets and choose YOUR favorite set.  Leave a comment on my blog stating your favorite set by midnight EST on Friday, October 4th and I will choose one lucky winner on Saturday, October 5th.  I hope you win!

Happy Tuesday!
